Our mission is to promote preservation statewide. preservationoklahoma
To better document and explain the benefits of historic preservation, Preservation Oklahoma, Incorporated undertook this significant project, in collaboration with the Oklahoma Historical Society, the State Historic Preservation Office, and the Oklahoma Main Street Center, to document the economic benefits of historic preservation in Oklahoma. POK contracted with the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University to conduct a comprehensive analysis of historic preservation activity in the state.
Without the collaboration of each of the public and private partners and funding from generous donors interested in the examining statewide economic impacts associated with the rehabilitation of historic buildings, this project would not have been possible. Preservation Oklahoma would like to thank those donors who contributed to this important project: the Oklahoma State Historic Preservation Office; the City of Oklahoma City; Chesapeake Energy; the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and a generous gift from Julie Bott Miner made in the memory of Lt. Col. and Mrs. James F. Bott.
Preservation Oklahoma would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Linda Barnett, director of the Oklahoma Main Street Program as well as the state staff and local Main Street directors and staff, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department for the countless hours spent in providing data as well as their participation in reviewing drafts of the study.
