Gracing the top of Locust Street in Alva, Oklahoma, the Nickel-McClure Mansion was first known as "Buena Vista" and truly deserves the title. Both the site it occupies and the structure itself surely constitute a "beautiful view". The residence was built in 1904 for George E. Nickel. Over the past 100 years the mansion has become an important piece of Alva's history, but the home is currently in a state of disrepair. After sitting vacant for several years, the original clay tile roof leaked causing water damage throughout much of the home. The roof is in need of replacement. The basement, porch, and the second and third floor are also in need of significant work.
