Welcome to Preservation Oklahoma! We are Oklahoma’s only statewide non-profit preservation organization dedicated to protecting, promoting, and preserving our state’s historic and cultural landmarks! Preservation Oklahoma serves the entire state in its programs and projects.
As we look toward our next 100 years as a state, the members of Preservation Oklahoma know our work has become more important than ever before. We plan to continue our efforts of identifying those “special” places in our collective history for future generations to appreciate and enjoy through collaborative efforts with local preservation groups, local communities, and our commercial partners.
Preservation Oklahoma also understands well the importance of historic preservation’s impact on our state’s economic and cultural development. While many of us have expressed concerns for resource conservation in an age of ever increasing energy costs, we also must realize that preservation is a form of conservation. Preserving those structures which are locally and nationally significant promotes wise usage of non-renewable resources. Preservation also promotes awareness of the importance of caring for our past to provide for a better future.
I hope you will join me as we look toward our promising future as a state and help support the efforts of historic preservation. On behalf of the Board of Directors of Preservation Oklahoma, I extend my invitation to you to join in our work to rebuild our neighborhoods and strengthen our communities—all across the state!
